VISUAL ARTISTS! ~ “End of Life/Afterlife” Oct Arts Series & RFP

 

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERASt. John’s Episcopal Church in Irving Park is seeking artists for a juried exhibit entitled: Crossing Over: Visual and Poetic Reflections on End of Life / Afterlife.”

The exhibit is a part of The Salon Series at St. John’s, End of Life/Afterlife, a four day arts festival created in collaboration with Roots Salon producer, Jamie O’Reilly and a featured part of Chicago Artists Month.  Location: St. John’s Episcopal Church, 3857 N. Kostner, Chicago IL.

●     Submission Deadline:            Friday, October 10, 2014
●     Exhibit Opening:                     Friday, October 24 at 6:30pm
●     Exhibit Closing:                       Sunday, November 23
●     Exhibit Hours:                         Sundays 8:00am – 1:00pm, Saturdays 5:00pm – 8:00pm

HoyerangelDetails: This multimedia exhibit asks the question: What borders are crossed when we confront death? Artwork will explore whether these borders are                 ●     safe / dangerous,
●     emotional / intellectual,                 
●     physical / spiritual,
●     sacred/ secular, or
●     a clash of cultural beliefs and traditions.                                

Proposals will be accepted for either completed artwork or for projects created specifically for this exhibit. Special consideration will be given to artwork that is created in collaboration between artists working in different media. Artists will be asked to attend the opening of the exhibit, Friday, October 24 at 6:30pm and also asked to host at least one Saturday in November (Nov. 1, 8, 15, or 22, from 5:00 – 8:00pm.)
