To all of you who think you know me
Waving to Picasso, Michael P. Smith
Who think you know my heart
You see me in cafes and think
That’s all there is to know.
Is there a season will not cut me deep?
That’s how I’m like him
Where could you go to find a garden
My love could not make grow?
Listen to Michael and Jamie sing Waving to Picasso,
with Peter Swenson on guitar
Waving to Picasso, words and music by Michael,
was a gift for my 40th birthday.
It was featured in our musical
Hello Dali: From the Sublime to the Surreal
seen at Victory Gardens Theater,
during its 2002 Tony Award-winning season.
It is on our Swimming Deeper CD.
And online in a recording with Peter Swenson

Folkstage Tribute to Michael Smith, Rebroadcast
On Sept 26, 2020, Anne Hills, Jamie O’Reilly, Paul Amandes, and pianist John Erickson performed a concert, recorded at the Hinsdale Unitarian Church, honoring the musical life of their friend, the beloved singer/songwriter Michael P. Smith, who died on August 3 of last year. Produced, hosted and engineered by Rich Warren for Folkstage, a program of cultural icon WFMT Fine Arts Radio, the concert was presented in two sets.
Folkstage is a one-hour concert featuring some of the best traditional and singer-songwriter talent in folk music.
