NOVEMBER E-NEWS
A Note from Michael
I love playing gigs in Texas because the folks there are very lighthearted…hey, it hasn’t snowed thirty-one inches there for many a Halloween and it’s not likely to. Also I love driving for long distances, and going to Texas I can think about a song for hours and hours w/o doing anything else but steering and stopping to eat. “Barbara Dodd” is an east on Pennsylvania Turnpike tune, and “Donna From Mobile” was Route 10 leaving Florida. Subscribe to “My Drunk Kitchen” on Youtube, and tell them I sent you (in the middle of the night I’m laughing so out loud). Also read “Freedom” by Jonathan Franzen (I cried at the end). This is good advice, friends, and who else will tell you this stuff? OK bye.
Please check the website of the venues for updates. Also see calender on michaelsmithmusic.com and below NOVEMBER

October E-News
“Amazing keynote address, songwriting talk and performances at FARM last weekend. I was moved to tears, enlightened and reinvigorated. Thank you.” (Scott, a fan)
A Note from Michael:
I did some interesting gigs in the past few weeks: I played the People’s Church on Lawrence, which I like doing ’cause they don’t have a sound system and I get to sing loud. Jamie O’Reilly and I were in Rogers Park, doing a show called Songs Of A Catholic Childhood. I’ve never played to a roomful of Catholics before, except for some short gigs as an altar boy, and it was a gas. Anne Hills and I went to Fennville, Michigan, a lovely restaurant and music place, where I read yet another biography of Phil Spector, about whom I have a song on my next CD. Anne’s mom is a lovely person, I should be writing a song about her instead of Phil Spector. I gave the keynote address at FARM, a big deal for me, and didn’t faint. Did I tell you I have a next CD? Working title: Have I Stayed Too Long At The Zayre? I’ll keep mentioning the name of the album until somebody says: Oh, too cool.
