Pianist Paul Henning performs a broad selection of ragtime pieces, swing tunes and parlor songs from Scott Joplin’s “Maple Leaf Rag” to Fat Waller’s “Honeysuckle Rose” and Gershwin/Duke’s “I Can’t Get Started”, in Halcyon Days, olde time night at Roots.
Vocalist (and Salonniere) Jamie O’Reilly sits in for part of the evening, performing from the songbird repertoire of the “Gay 90s”, “Roaring 20s”, drawing room ballads, including “Softly, As in a Morning Sunrise”, (Cole Porter’s) “Allez Vous En”, “My Sweetheart’s The Man in the Moon,” “I Wish Someone Would Take Me Dancing” (by Michael Smith) and her signature song “Blue River” .
