Hear Michael perform The Man with the Blue Guitar and more
Feb 9/10 at the Poetry Fdn
The man bent over his guitar,
a sheersman of sort,
The day was green.
They said “You have a blue guitar
you do not play things as they are.”
The man replied: “Things as they are,
are changed upon the blue guitar”.
And they said then, “But play you must,
a tune beyond us, yet ourselves,
a tune upon the blue guitar
of things exactly as they are.”
(poem: Wallace Stevens The Man with the Blue Guitar)
A Note from Michael. I’m honored to be part of the Poets & Music series in “And the Poet Sang” at the Poetry Fdn this weekend.
I’ve set a fair amount of poems to music.
This is a good chance to hear them performed with the talented Peter Swenson playing guitar with Jamie O’Reilly and me. After that, we’re bringing “And the Poet Sang” (with Jamie & me) to LIBRARIES.
My solo shows often have words of poets and writers: Wilde, Steinbeck and others, along with my original tunes. Good for your HOUSE CONCERT situation and concert halls. Contact Jamie about booking those.
LOOKING. IT’S ALL THERE.
My cool friend Leo Segedin‘s website features a performance of my “Hey Kid“ from the There CD as aural background to a presentation of some of Mr. Segedin’s poignant and extraordinary paintings of Chicago and I am so proud in every way to be associated with this singular painter.
See a slideshow of Leo Segedin’s paintings, accompanied by Michael’s song Hey Kid. http://www.leopoldsegedin.com/video_hey_kid
