Brigid went out in the early dawn
and saw a horse with a shattered leg
Bone to bone she knit
Flesh to flesh, vein to vein she sewed
Sinew back to sinew
Brigid by her woman’s power healed.
And by my woman’s power, I heal myself.

The Queen of the Four Fires
Words and music by Michael Peter Smith
A woman dreams of an ancient time
around the peat fire blazing
A woman sings of a world gone by
when the land was green and free
Of Druid incantations
She sings to you and me
A woman stands before the fire
sings of hearts aflame
Days when warriors walked the land
knew the stars by name
A woman tells of the ancient spells
to find one’s true desire
Every word a prayer as well to the Queen of the Four Fires
Said the Queen of the Four Fires, o lass
do you not remember this
When the country was all green and free
back in ancient mist
And the dancers weave to an age old tune
on the whistle and the lyre
And the song they sing is a wild wind’s keen
to the Queen of the Four Fires
And now we gather here once more
Chant a timeless tune
With words that come down to us from some forgotten rune
And all four fires, bright as the sun, the flames only go higher
And the song we sing is like caroling to the Queen of the Four Fires
